The next thing that you will want to look at is how the student services are. Are there enough faculty and staff to handle the influx of new students? Are students being turned away after submitting incomplete applications? Do the students in question get help once they arrive on campus? These are all very valid concerns that you should raise with your advisor. If there is turnover in the faculty department, then this should also be investigated further.
The next thing that you need to pay close attention to is the actual physical layout of the campus. I am all for an environment that is easy to get around in and where most people seem to be in a good mood all the time. If you are attending a school like this, you need to move around quickly and feel at ease within the walls of your dorm.
Finally, I would also recommend that you take a tour of the campus from the perspective of a prospective student. You will be able to determine better if the university is right for you and what kind of classes you can expect to take. A tour of the library or other buildings on campus is also a great way to gauge how large and crowded the area is.
